The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Finance Analyst – Business Technology at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing budget planning and analysis as well as related business support operations for the Business Technology Team. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the department Administrative Support team including purchasing, accounting, and expense reporting against the department’s operations and capital budgets. You will be facilitating contracts, procurement, vendor management and related business services in collaboration with Finance and Procurement departments.

Here are some of the essential job duties:

  • Analyze department financial activities from purchasing, contract terms and vendor invoices against budget. Prepare and distribute monthly reports on variances to department leadership. Provide reconciliation guidance and recommendations.

  • Consult with department leadership and act as liaison to Finance team for planning, tracking and improving financial reporting practices and procedures.

  • Act as lead in annual budget preparation and facilitation including communicating procedures, distributing and completing budget templates, training department managers and overseeing modifications or revisions. Coordinates with leadership team for submission to Finance.

  • Analyze and process journal entries for department in accordance with established timeframes. Analyze processes for effectiveness and efficiencies.

  • Develop recommendations for supplier management decisions through analysis of reports, supplier spend tracking and reviewing purchase order/invoice payments.

  • Facilitate organization review and budget analysis and tracking for salary budget and workforce planning

  • Implements purchasing process including creation of purchase orders, vendor communication and management and invoice processing.

  • Facilitates Business Technology contract management process to ensure contracts are reviewed and approved through internal Procurement and Legal procedures

  • Other duties, projects, or analyses as assigned including participation of cross functional task forces.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration Degree

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in related field

  • Comprehensive experience applying the principles and practices of accounting, financial analysis, budget analysis and general business administration

  • Experience supporting operations for Information Technology department.

  • Proficient in large-scale purchasing, budget projection and planning, variance analysis, and reconciliation requirements. Ability to analyze financial data and interpret into narrative form

  • Excellent in oral and written communications. Ability to communicate with all levels of AHA staff. Ability to communicate to technology and non-technology staff

  • Excellent problem solver

  • Advanced MS Excel Experience to include Pivot Tables and Power Query

  • Effective time management and organization skills

  • Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Excellent in working against deadlines to provide end product
