The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a The Enterprise Solutions Architect.
The Enterprise Solutions Architect is responsible for evaluating new requests for business technology solutions and recommending a mix of solution options to meet the need expressed in the request. Responsible refining and understanding the business need and how it relates to existing Association solutions and data. Responsible for collaborating with BT Leadership, Program Managers, and DevOps teams to match technology capabilities to business strategies and helping make choices that balance speed-to-market and solution viability over an appropriate life-span. Responsible for contributing to a solution brief that lays out candidate solution components (off-the-shelf software, cloud capabilities, database options, integration approaches, etc.) by understanding modern IT solution patterns, and the overall technology roadmap being pursued by the Association. Responsible as needed for vendor RFP creation and evaluation including proofs-of-concept efforts whether internally delivered or provided by a vendor. Also responsible for ongoing consultation to project and operational teams to help ensure ongoing consistency of architecture and solution vision.

Essential Job Duties:
Evaluate new requests for BT delivered solutions. Consult with Program Managers, BT Leadership, and business leadership to determine the true business need, high-level solution requirements and constraints, and the business processes to be supported. Research, recommend, and describe solutions options and high-level architectures. Assist with cost and effort estimation and overall implementation approaches. Evaluate the data implications of each request and ensure the vital concerns for security, data consent, data quality, and data utility are accurately cared for in the proposed solution mix.
Research and experiment with emerging cloud application architectures, services, and development techniques which can be applied to future American Heart Association solutions.
Research and experiment with state-of-the-art data management techniques, services, and products and integrate these techniques into future Association solutions.
Collaborate with the Innovative Solutions team to support proof-of-concept work around emerging technologies and include viable options in new solution recommendations.
Support and directly contribute to Association data strategy initiatives and develop a positive feedback loop between emerging data strategies and new solution recommendations.
Collaborate with and provide training on solution architectures and new technologies to the DevOps teams, program managers, BT leadership, and Association business departments.
Assist in the development of Requests for Proposal (RFP) and evaluate received proposals for technical approach and merit.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
8 to 12 years (top specialist / management) work experience
Experience delivering business software solutions across a range of technologies and business processes
Experience with developing and employing a broad range of data technologies
Experience with Web applications, Smartphone applications, web services, authentication/authorization services, content management solutions, PCI data management, HIPAA data management, and data integration
Experience developing solution design documentation including diagrams and narratives readable by both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong presentation and teamwork skills and can communicate all aspects of the job requirements, including the creation of formal documentation
Proficient in relational database concepts and flat file processing concepts
Strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills
Must be knowledgeable in software development lifecycles/methodologies i.e. Agile
Travel required (20% overnight)
