The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Health Reporter located in Dallas, TX .
This is a contract position with an end term date of 12/2021, that is eligible for benefits.
In this role, you will be responsible for producing science-based consumer news stories about brain health, exploring topics such as how it relates to heart health, mental well-being and other aspects. Collaborates with the AHA News team and experts in brain health and wellness to produce content that is displayed on AHA properties and shared widely with other news outlets through syndication.
Essential Job Duties
Identifies, plans, creates story and theme, and writes original, engaging content to inform, educate and entertain various audiences.
Translates science for consumers and ensures accuracy by working with science and medicine experts.
Collaborates with designers, videographers and graphic artists for visuals that accompany stories.
May assist the team otherwise as directed.

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related area.
Five (5) years of experience reporting and writing engaging content across various channels and mediums (news websites, magazines, newspapers.
Five (5) years of experience translating complex ideas into simple and understandable content for consumers.
Ability to interpret audience needs and media required to engage.
Proven editorial skills and a passion for grammar.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
