Due to the current pandemic, daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff. There is no overnight travel currently. In the future, this position may resume daily and/or overnight travel. All AHA offices are closed and staff are currently working from home. Offices will be reopening in October 2021; this position will resume to being based in the local office.
The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Attorney based out of our National Center office located in Dallas, TX!

Provide general legal support across a range of programs and departments
Research legal issues and prepare legal opinions
Build effective relationships with our key players in the business units
Attend strategic meetings, providing legal input and guidance to your Legal teammates on legal matters assigned to you related to a specific business area
Interpret, draft, revise, negotiate, and approve form contracts, leases, intellectual property licenses and other legally binding instruments

Professional License/specialized Training - J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and a current license in good standing to practice law
Two (2) - Five (5) years of relevant experience
Five (5)+ years of related experience as an Attorney in contract drafting and negotiation with working knowledge of intellectual property law, regulatory compliance issues, employment law, technology security issues, and health law
Experience working as an Attorney with in a Corporate Legal Department
Analytical thinking and preparing clear and concise documents, and proven skill at legal research and drafting
Effective oral and written communications, negotiating, and interacting with persons at all levels in the AHA, business, government, and the public
Working with diverse clients and a substantial workload while providing timely and relevant legal support with the ability to meet established deadlines
Interact with internal and external legal customers positively and effectively
Experience with laws that regulate tax exempt organizations
Experience optimizing contract review processes
Strong understanding of data privacy, intellectual property rights and technology contracts
Experience with government contracts or high-volume procurement departments
Demonstrated experience working with fundraising staff of varying personalities
