The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Diversity & Inclusion Director . The preferred location of the Director is Dallas, but may be based in a remote location.
The Diversity & Inclusion Director acts as a strategic partner to business/HR leaders nationwide with a focus on leveraging diversity & inclusion to drive our mission internally and externally. This is a highly visible position working with senior leaders across the organization.
To help you be successful you will have access to our award-winning learning platform the Heart U as well as various other training and support mechanisms locally and through our National Center.
Due to the current pandemic, daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff. There is no overnight travel currently. In the future, this position may resume daily and overnight travel.
Develop and implement tightly integrated diversity and inclusion best practice solutions that drive inclusive behaviors and business practices at all levels in support of our mission.
Partner with internal and external partners to create and deliver learning experiences to develop leaders who model and drive inclusive behaviors and mission impact.
Consult with Talent Acquisition and AHA leadership to diversify talent pipelines for staff and volunteers to drive talent retention and organizational goals.
In partnership with AHA leadership, play a key role in leveraging internal staff advisory group engagement and external volunteer groups.
Create and moderate safe spaces for honest and practical dialogue around diversity and inclusion while challenging conventional wisdom.
8+ years of demonstrated success leading and influencing, as a champion, the practice of diversity and inclusion.
8+ years of progressive leadership experience in business, marketing, Human Resources or related area.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience and skill in leading the integration of multiple data sources (including primary and secondary research, social media) into clear, actionable insights and stories.
Ability to lead with the business in mind; think and act strategically.
Knowledge of best practices and innovative talent trends in the marketplace; ability to challenge accepted wisdom.
Ability to do daily and overnight travel as needed, with approximately two overnight trips a month.
Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.
Must have the ability to lift at least 25 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation & Benefits
The hiring salary range is $72,600 - $101,600. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. AHA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any difference between actual compensation and the posted range will be based on factors other than race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy) or national origin.
Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability.
Retirement Plans: AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provides employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions.
Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year.
Leaves of Absence: AHA offers both Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more. Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks off of work for a qualified leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), intermittent FMLA leaves and leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA).
