Responsibilities

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Health Strategies Specialist in our San Antonio, Texas office.

The individual will be responsible for providing support with community impact related resources, program development, communications, and training related to various AHA health and community impact assets. Support the coordination and implementation of projects based on public health awareness through partnerships with integrated market teams, local agencies, and community service organizations.

Essential job duties:

  • Provides implementation support and/or leads delivery of assigned health-related community programs which may include one or more of the following: collective impact strategies and outcomes, multi-cultural healthy lifestyle awareness and education, and other sponsored activations.

  • Coordinates grant applications, reports, as well as internal/external reporting documents.

  • Organizes by account team: contacts, proposals, letters of agreement, sponsorship payments.

  • Provides information, consultation, and data interpretation. Manages reporting tools and data quality platforms for division team.

  • Plans and coordinates grassroot volunteer/committee meetings including preparing agenda and presentations. Assists in the management of multiple volunteer groups associated with assigned health-focused programs. Makes site visits as required.

  • Aids with creation and production of materials for health-related campaigns, events, and programs to help market initiatives.

  • Helps monitor national, state, and local health trends to inform division team of potential partnerships as well as funding and program opportunities. Benchmarks our fundraising/giving opportunities against other organizations.

  • Serves as an AHA representative with key community organizations and corporate partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Sciences or related area, or equivalent work experience.

  • Two (2) years of experience supporting health impact teams and programs.

  • Knowledge and experience with health program education and awareness, community groups and influencers.

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, as well as demonstrated skills in consultation and meetings management.

  • Expertise in creating documents in MS Office Suite.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
