American Heart Association Community Health Coordinator in Cincinnati, Ohio

We are currently hiring for a Part-Time Community Health Coordinator in our Cincinnati office. Under guidance of the Community Impact Director, the Coordinator will support execution of strategies for several grant-funded projects that support the planning and implementation of maternal heart health focused efforts. This person will also serve as ambassador for the Association brand working closely with external volunteers, media, donors, sponsors and the general public.

This is a part-time position with a 15-hour work week and offers a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Maternal Health community education.

  • Assist in organizing/implementing community and culturally appropriate health initiatives and programs throughout communities.

  • Support work around community impact priority issues including hypertension control, nutrition insecurity, community response, and tobacco/vaping.

  • Assist with internal program evaluations.

  • Assist the community impact team in communicating the impact of local work.

  • Identify impact stories for showcasing, enhance via research and interviews, and develop communication pieces for online or offline sharing.

  • Identify, review, and develop resources that meet community health needs such as playbooks and other tools.

  • Explore state or local organizations that align with the Association’s priority issue areas and identify opportunities for collaboration.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of training and other community impact meetings.

  • Attend internal and external meetings as requested, including Community Coalition meetings, health fairs, and other community events as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of educational or equivalent experience in public health courses.

  • Demonstrated ability to research health topics and translate findings into actionable guidance.

  • Comfortable working with maternal health or experience in the field.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills, including writing on health topics for promotional or educational outcomes.

  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

  • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.

  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and Canva.

  • Ability/willingness to travel for community events.

  • Project management, data management, and video editing experience is preferred but not required.

  • Minimum availability of 15 hrs/wk, M-F with Thursday evenings required to be in-person for the maternal health cohort sessions.

  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and Reliable Transportation

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
