The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a National Executive Lead, Health Care by Food . This position can be home based within the U.S.

This is a full time, benefits eligible grant funded positio n. Current funding is through approx. June 2028.

This role will be responsible for providing leadership in planning and execution of the Health Care by Food strategy. This national initiative will provide the large-scale clinical evidence required to help identify, support, and implement the most viable food Is medicine strategies by ensuring they are included in covered benefits through public and private insurance.

The Executive Lead will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide strategic plan and for delivering measurable increases in the Association’s impact towards achieving food is medicine milestones and deliverables. Responsible for designing and applying metrics to demonstrate success as measured by health impact, awareness, engagement, and alignment across AHA’s research, mission advancement, and advocacy functions. Also, responsible for owning and integrating a collaborative matrix team that functions among departments and across the enterprise to meet portfolio objectives as well as organization goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements organization-wide strategic plan and goals for the assigned portfolio of products and/or programs. Oversees research and trend analysis to identify and apply real-time market data. Develops, designs and tracks performance metrics for critical portfolio operational plans to measure achievement and success.

  • Convenes cross-Association working groups to plan, review progress, identify issues and ensure coordinated work to accomplish strategic portfolio goals. Guides and directs a matrix team in plan execution to assure integrated and cohesive results.

  • Acts as strategic lead and key point of contact for national partners and represents the organization’s initiative priorities at the national level.

  • Provides senior leadership with recommendations for resource development and project priorities. Facilitates portfolio projects with Development (National Corporate Relations, Field Corporate Relations and Mission Advancement) to secure resources to execute portfolio strategies.

  • The Executive Lead will be tasked, as part of the Health Care by Food leadership team, with sustaining, promoting, and growing the food is medicine initiative.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Health, Healthcare Professions, or related area

  • Funder/fundraising for restricted initiatives and volunteer management experience

  • Ten (10) years of experience developing business models and operational plans

  • Eight (8) years of experience managing subject matter experts and operations managers

  • Eight (8) years of experience in program development, planning and management

  • Eight (8) years of experience in public health or non-profit services

  • Ability to travel up to 25% with some overnight stay

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health

  • Experience working with national level executive volunteers and national boards
