The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a Part Time Editorial Assistant in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX . This position will be working 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
This role will manage the production process for Connections—the quarterly membership newsletter magazine that features news and articles from the 16 Scientific Councils. The Part Time Editorial Assistant will work with volunteers and AHA staff members to ensure the newsletter includes everything appropriate to make it comprehensive and noteworthy.

Responsibilities
Determining front articles, obtaining content and images, submitting them for science and editorial review
Coordinating content for design, reviewing proofs, posting final versions online
Creating bulk emails to send to all members and tracking all expenses.
Work with the volunteers that work with the newsletter for each of the 16 scientific councils to ensure the appropriate and accurate information gets included in each quarterly newsletter.
Qualifications

Minimum three (3) years of experience in print marketing, design, and delivery
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel PPT and Outlook
Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills
Knowledge of managing budgets
Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff and present to management effectively using excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable with ambiguity and strong attention to detail
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
Photoshop and other design type of software experience
Medical writing and/or editing
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field
