The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Director, Application Development our National Center office located in Dallas, TX .

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Director, Application Development is to provide strategic direction, planning and support of all internally facing enterprise applications at the American Heart Association. The Director is also responsible for understanding the needs of the various business units and building relationships with the different business unit leaders. Additionally, the Director is responsible for building strategic relationships with the technology partners / vendors and for creating technology roadmaps for future application enhancements and upgrades. Technologists in this department have deep levels of understanding in their various areas of expertise and as such they provide critical application support to the business units. The Director is responsible for ensuring high performance outcomes from these resources and that the needs of the organization are being met or exceeded. Emphasis on business value and quality of service is critical while working to reduce the cost of application maintenance and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction in the management of American Heart Association internally facing enterprise applications.

  • Mentors the Enterprise Applications Team’s managers for Oracle JD Edwards, Oracle Cloud, Workday, MS SharePoint and MS Dynamics CRM as well as a variety of other business unit specific applications.

  • Working with business unit leaders, directing strategic planning for enterprise application roadmap for American Heart Association.

  • Liaises with leadership across American Heart Association to ensure technology services American Heart Association needs and determine future needs.

  • Manages staff issues and other administrative duties.

  • Manages relationships and negotiations with strategic vendors for enterprise applications.

  • Evaluate the application support model in pursuit of process improvements, productivity improvements, and growth opportunities for staff members.

  • Determines processes, projects and procedures to create efficiencies, secure data, and cut costs within the department. Finds opportunities for doing so across American Heart Association.

  • Researches and implements new technologies enabling new business processes and opportunities for American Heart Association.

  • Provides leadership to implementation planning for software rollouts, products and services.

  • Defines new KPIs and builds roadmaps to advise decision making and prioritization.

  • Sets Goals and Expectations for performance and works with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.

  • Mentors, coaches, and encourages a team of analysts and programmers.

  • Leverages American Heart Association technology investment by maximizing the life, utility, and maintenance of systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, Information Systems, Analysis, Business or a related field of study.

  • Minimum of (5) years of experience supporting/implementing enterprise software application technology environments such as Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics with management of managers.

  • Prior experience building and leading teams that tackle sophisticated problems and perform broad technology implementations.

  • Broad-based leadership and general business management experience gained in a variety of assignments, functions, and business environments including distributed team and remote management

  • Ability to negotiate contracts with controls and service levels

  • Broad understanding of technology and technology evaluation techniques.

  • Analysis and creative problem-solving techniques.

  • Solid understanding of technology security and best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with technology trends and assess business value.

  • Ability to plan and manage multiple budgets as well as set, communicate, and achieve business goals.

  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 5% of the time.

  • Business analysis, needs assessment experience

  • Proficient in programming SQL, Java, Python, Oracle Integration Cloud

  • Staff development planning

  • Direct management of sensitive data and data security

  • ITIL certification
