The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Marketing & Communications Manager in our American Heart Association Ventures department!
American Heart Association Ventures leads and coordinates the venture capital programs of the American Heart Association. The Ventures platform includes the Social Impact Funds, the Go Red for Women Venture Fund, Studio Red and Cardeation Capital. All four funds are structured to amplify the Association’s mission by investing in companies that translate evidence-based science, research, and clinical know-how into commercially actionable and positive impact for people and the health care system.
This position can be home-based.

Responsibilities
This individual is key in positioning Ventures and our funds in the marketplace to drive our relevance, growth, and mission impact. This role reports to the Managing Director of Marketing & Communications for The Association’s Ventures and is pivotal in this energetic and expert team.
You will partner with the Managing Director of Marketing & Communications to set strategy and develop compelling communications that build awareness, create connections, and inspire action.
Co-create strategies that engage and motivate a broad array of stakeholders including internal staff, donors, other venture funds and the venture ecosystem, portfolio companies, and others
Craft internal and external communications, social posts, content marketing, website content, standalone campaigns and more
Curate and write content for high-profile communications (e.g., annual reports, newsletter) and thought leadership webinars
Lead geo-targeted promotions for the Social Impact Funds
Identify and develop pitches for events, conferences, podcasts
Manage logistics for email marketing and webinars, coordinating with internal teams
Collaborate with Ventures’ team members, the National Marketing & Communications teams and cross functional peers to achieve organizational goals and scale our success.
Research and curate relevant statistics to reinforce the purpose and need for the various Ventures’ funds
Provide art direction to design resources, video vendors, etc. plus manage external vendor projects (design, copy, programming)
Assist with budget creation
Maintain familiarity with current and coming marketing, venture capital and other relevant trends
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree of equivalent work experience
Five (5) years of marketing and communications experience
Strong written and oral presentation, communication and story-telling skills
Powerful messaging, branding and concept development skills
Experience sourcing, writing, editing and art-directing content for a wide range of channels from traditional print to social and electronic
Ability to analyze, translate and present complex content in easy-to-understand language, formats and presentations that reflects the interests and information needs of different audiences
Skilled at relationship-building and experience working at all levels in an organization and with external stakeholders
High level project management and organization skills; understanding how to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders and focus on the delivery of results; ability to multi-task and work with hard deadlines; able to independently manage a project from start to completion
Strong proofreading and editing skills
Ability to work outside of standard hours which may involve some evenings and/or weekends
Ability and willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Experience:
- Health care and a mix of nonprofit and for-profit expertise preferred
