We are bringing our mission to life across the Bay Area. Come join our growing team! We are currently hiring a Development Directorbased in Oakland, California. The Director will generate revenue for our Bay Area Hard Hats with Heart fundraising campaign.

We have a fast-paced sales type of environment with the main responsibility of driving revenue in support of our mission. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities

  • Manages sponsorship, new business development and leadership recruitment for the Bay Area Hard Hats with Heart campaign through driving to American Heart Association Best Practices and is directly accountable for achieving revenue goals aligned with funding research, public health, professional education and training and community services.

  • Plans, manages, implements, and evaluates events and activities while managing multiple campaign components with new and existing companies participating in the campaign.

  • Leads and actively participates in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and management of corporate sponsorship and corporate and community involvement. This includes completing research on businesses within assigned market, while developing profiles and strategic plans to secure involvement. Develop a 3-year plan for campaign and corporate sponsorships that allows for maximum revenue based on market potential.

  • Develops and implements year-round pipelines and cultivation plans for corporate accounts and patron sponsors, ensuring sufficient depth for revenue generation and excellent customer relations.

  • Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting, and activating an influential, financially strong and inclusive volunteer leadership base to support the campaign on a sustained basis. Includes the recruitment and engagement of campaign chairs and leadership teams to champion the fundraising success of the campaign through their personal and corporate giving, mobilizing their employees and influencing the involvement and giving of others including high level patron support.

  • Manages customer and campaign information utilizing American Heart Association systems accurately, timely and completely in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Proactively ensures timely communication with internal and external partners and customers, supporting collaboration in account management and activities to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience

  • Ability to do daily local travel; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis

  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving

  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

Here are some of the preferred experience skills we are seeking:

  • University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred

  • Experience managing and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level and high-level donors

  • Knowledge of corporate and community networks

  • Knowledge of American Heart Association’s mission and programs

Compensation & Benefits

Expected pay range will be $67,000 to $84,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain target.
